Madi and Joey met during their sophomore year of college at the University of Oklahoma. They were introduced by their friends, Olivia and JD, who attempted to set them up the summer before their junior year while they were all living in Norman. However, despite Joey's immediate efforts to win Madi over, it took another seven months for Madi to agree to go on a date with him.
Their first date was in Norman at The Winston. Madi was a bit nervous, but thankfully, she didn’t scare Joey off by ordering avocado toast for dinner. They bonded over their shared love of OU football and spending weekends at Seven47 with their friends. After graduation, they debated their next steps and ultimately decided to give long-distance a try, as Madi was committed to staying in Oklahoma while Joey was moving back to Colorado.
After two long years of long distance, Madi finally moved to Denver, and their relationship grew stronger than ever. This past year, they reached an exciting milestone by buying their first house together in Englewood, Colorado. They’ve embraced their new chapter as homeowners, and now one of their favorite things to do is host friends for parties and football games, making their home the go-to spot on weekends!
Madi and Joey got engaged on Madi's birthday, October 4, 2024, in Napa Valley, CA. Joey had planned the entire "birthday" trip as a surprise engagement. Madi was completely shocked, and they had the best time celebrating with great wine all weekend! Since the engagement, wedding planning has been in full swing (mostly for Madi), and they can’t wait to officially become husband and wife this September.
